>>6081636"I'm so...rry..." Redis says weakly, you looking down panicking as her body goes limp, a single tear rolling down her cheek. You drop the bag, laying her down to check her pulse and breathing. Both of which begin to even out, even her energy stops fluctuating and settles down. You sigh out in relief, no doubt the stress of the situation having gotten the best of her and knocked her out. Quickly you open up the smallish wooden building, pick your wife and the emergency bag and rush into the ship. Setting her down in the copilot seat, you strap her in, leaving the bag with her before going into the engine compartment, re-hooking everything up.
“All that practice is finally paying off. Much as I wish I never had to do this.” you mutter, remembering the monthly drills you'd done, working on getting your ship from disabled to fully functional in under a minute. Ever since first settling down you'd been in the habit of doing this weekly, only once you'd come to this world and started an actual job instead of sustenance farming on your previous world did your practice slow. But you get the ship ready to go in quick order, climbing out of the engine compartment and going back to the bridge. Where Redis is now awake, looking around disoriented.
“Radi? Wha...?” she asks groggily as you go the the controls, firing up the engines and readying your ship to take off. “What happened?”
“We're leaving, this world isn't safe anymore.” you tell her, activating the ship's shields before simply rising up out of the makeshift building, timber shattering as your craft rises up into the sky. Where you see dozens of beings flying your way, no doubt more of the Tuffle's slaves. So you gun it, blasting off directly into the sky. The turbulence shake the vessel for a moment or two, then it leaves the atmosphere behind, blasting off into the void of space. You then open your ki sense once more, non sensing any pursuit and finally allow yourself a moment to relax. Sighing out, and reverting back to your base power. “We have to go back.”
“What?” she asks, looking more confused than she probably should. “What do you mean?”
“If the Tuffles are somehow back and possessing people, we need to go warn them.” you reply with a weary sigh. “I don't want to go back, but-”
“Then let's not.” she replies, her voice still sounding a bit strained. You turn to look at her as she unbuckles herself, standing up and walking over to you. Her eyes suddenly fixate on your right arm, where you were cut earlier. “You're bleeding.”
“It's nothing.” you say, only for her to grab you on both the collar and bicep, leaning in close to the injury. Where, suddenly every single instinct in your body screams out that you're in danger.
