“Cool. Basically, there's this white-haired demon child that's supposed to arrive during the beginning of a great war between the sides of light and dark, and it's got two sides to it. One a savior of man, and the other a savior of monsters. One will bring ruin to the world of man, and the other will destroy all monsters everywhere.” Ben explained, this time without his usual dramatic flair. “Since this was all written on degrading Cyclopean tapestries, no one's sure about which one we're getting, or whether the prophecy is talking about two seperate people.”
“And you all think that she is the destroyer?” Ana said, gesturing at you as she looked between each of the council members.
“We don’t know for sure.” Delphyne admitted, leaning her chin on her hands, her elbows resting on the table. “But it's better to be safe than sorry. If the vampires really are making a move soon, then we don't have a whole lot of time before the Slayer reveals themselves.”
“But what if the prophecy's wrong?” you said, shaking your head. “It sounds to me like you don't really have all the details.”
Young sighed.
“Because a Cyclopean oracle is never wrong.” she said begrudgingly, as if she wanted to be wrong. “Had they not been wiped out long ago, they would have built an empire that far surpasses anything that humans have accomplished so far. Their foresight is said to have been uncannily accurate.”
“Not accurate enough to stop them from getting wiped out.” Ben muttered.
Walker nodded, and Carnelian’s ears twitched. It was a little disconcerting how the right side of his mouth curled up into a smile, but the left remained stoic as ever.
“Yes. You aren’t alone in that opinion. No one knows for certain what led to their demise.” Carnelian expressed. “But their faith in Cyclopean fortune telling hasn’t faded entirely.”
“But how do we know that this vampire war is the major war from the prophecy? This isn't the first time that vampires have attacked the city, and it won’t be the last.” you argued.
Ward laughed at you. Actually. Laughed.
“You don’t know the scope of it yet, do you?” he said, wiping a tear from his eye. “This isn’t going to be an attack. It will be a slaughter.”
The way he said that last part caused everyone other than Garth to turn and glare at him. Even his own sister.
He looked like he wanted to say more, but Mina cut him off.
“Tell me,” she began. “What do you know of the Darkhold?”
“Sister…”
There was a clear undertone of menace in the way Ward said it, but the lady Nosferatu kept ignoring him.
You frowned in confusion. What did “The Book of The Damned" have to do with this?
“The Book of Chthon? What about it?”
“Then…what of the Montesi Formula?” she asked.
