>>6327543>“What’s going on? How did you manage to get here? Why are you stealing the identity of Gyles Dominic? More importantly, are you gonna hand over that damn relic or not?” You growl this last part, the threat of a fight latent in your voice. Gyles wanted to come here badly. He valued this room more than winning the tournament it seemed. And a lot of the objects in here looked fragile, as if they were made of glass. He said he had no intention of fighting you, and you didn’t think the reason was just because he was outnumbered.“I will answer all your questions.” Gyles says, putting his hands out in a soothing motion. “As for the Scroll, it will be yours momentarily. However, I need it to extract what I require from that console behind you.”
Console. There was that word again. Is that what this noisy contraption was called?
“Before the Ichor Scroll was gifted to Lamine, it was bound and penned by my people. It contains wisdom long thought lost. I will need it for but a moment. Rest assured, you will not leave this floor without it.”
>“Penned by your people? And who are they? Heroes Relics were gifted to the original Crest bearers by the Goddess herself.”“A convenient lie, fed to you by the Church of Seiros. These relics are crafted from the remnants of the Nabateans. An ancient race of dragons, and the first children of the alien god, Sothis. Before they fell into the hands of you humans, they were created by my people. The Agarthans. Not that I expect these names to mean anything to you, of course. But I see no point in hiding my true identity in your presence.”
>“Oh, actually I’ve heard of those names before.”“You have?” Gyles’ eyes widened in surprise.
“Wait, you have?” Crowley nearly chokes on his spit. “W-when? I mean…what? What’s going on?”
>“The Cult of the Serpent. Their leader mentioned the Agarthans before. He seems to really hate them. And apparently there was a huge war between them and these Nabateans thousands of years ago. Yeah I’ve heard all this before actually.”Silence follows. Hmm, now that you think about it, Bronte did make you swear to secrecy about that stuff. Well, it was probably fine if you were talking to an actual Agarthan.
>“Hey, I thought all you guys were supposed to be extinct. Are you really an Agarthan?”Gyles narrows his eyes. Evidently, he didn’t expect you to know nearly as much as you did. But at least it spared him the trouble of having to explain thousands of years of ancient history.
“I am. Agarthan blood still exists in this world. Particularly in this country. However, I am likely the last pure-blooded Agarthan left. I escaped the Church’s purge that put an end to my kin. I wandered Fodlan aimlessly for many years following their death. Until I came across a particular letter, sent to this country. ‘Xan Phanes’ was the name of its sender. A name I hadn’t heard for perhaps a millennia.”
