>>5190541“It’s going after someone.” Kate says.
“Is it Blair? Let’s get to work!”
Kate makes a divebomb towards the Demonic Beast. Even through the fog caused by that spell, the beast casts a large enough shadow to accurately target. Behind her, Corrine unsheathes her axe.
“Thanks for the ride, darling! Be sure to give me some cover out here!” Corrine yells. As the pegasus approaches the beast from above, Corrine leaps off the steed, axe out, and lands by slamming the weapon directly into the beast’s forehead. The blade cuts deep into its skull, causing it to shriek in agony. She hangs by the handle of her axe for a second or two, swinging as the beast wildly flails, before the axe comes loose and she manages to land on her feet and take a step back. (Demonic Beast – 40HP, 90/130)
Blood sprays from the large wound as the beast staggers and falls to the ground, but it’s not out of the game yet. It lets loose another roar as it faces Corrine.
“Quit your bitching! I barely touched you!”
The beast begins crawling towards Corrine when something collides hard with the side of its head, letting loose another jet of blood and sending the creature onto its side. (Demonic Beast – 20 HP 70/130). Kate had expertly performed an aerial reversal after dropping off Corrine, picking up full speed and slamming her spear into the area previously damaged. She pulls her horse next to Corrine.
“Did that do it?” Corrine asks.
“I don’t know. Blair usually tells me when they’re dead.”
A roar provides the answer they were looking for. The two girls feel a sudden pressure emanating from the beast and can see the mist evaporating around it. The creature gets on all fours, before sending a stream of flames at the two Black Eagles. Kate is able to avoid most of the attack thanks to her pegasus and naturally high resistance, however Corrine does not fare as well, being launched back several feet and suffering severe burns. (Corrine -21 HP, Kate -13 HP)
