”Listen to me carefully, Boy. You will never be the Supreme Ruler. None of you will. You come from powerful families yes, but Cijan is our Supreme Ruler. He is not near the age of retirement and selection yet. And unlike what your little Kingmaker parents believe, he will not die on this grand crusade of his he has just undertaken- and even if he did, Hwat, who is this young lady's father, is of the same age. I instructed Cijan before you- and I can promise none of you are even on his level. You are here to continue the tradition of scholarship and prestige, a single woman will not be a drain on any resources or time that will go to someone who may actually become the Supreme Ruler. Now, Val. Get. Into. Position.”
The blonde, the one who spoke the outburst in the first place, glumly walks to the wall to take a combat knife. The other two young males are looking at you, and each other. You get the feeling they're going to start whispering and making fun of the blonde... or you.
”Dulioan.” The instructor says, motioning to you. At his feet is a fine wooden box, with a glass top. Unlocked via AI order, the luxurious glass case holds two small knives. You can tell from here they're real- they look sharp.
”...Normally, my trainees are taught in exactly one weapon- the combat knife. This blade is the traditional weapon of Supreme Rulers since Akule, Unspeakable, Indomitable, may his name echo forever. However, given your unique circumstances, I happen to have another weapon available- my students train until they are masters of their weapons- or they are expelled from the program and shamed. Whichever you decide, stick with it.”
The other weapon is a stiletto. It's a much more “feminine” weapon- and you can already tell why he offered it to you. The weapon is a bit more fragile then a combat knife- meaning your grip is less likely to break it- and with a thinner blade that will be much easier to actually... force a knife into someone's body and kill them. It will require much less upper body strength to do that. But the blade is much thinner and the crossguard smaller- it will lack defense.
But will taking it make you look weak? Is this some kind of test? Which should you take?
