You tell her that this is your adoptive sister Alice and that she'll be staying with you.
Lily chortles, looking at Alice, looking her up and down, seeming to try and figure out what her deal is.
"Hello, Alice," she says, "shouldn't you be in school?"
"My dad got murdered."
"Oh."
"By my mom."
"Oh..."
"And it's a Sunday. I think..."
"Oh..."
The room is silent for a moment.
"So... you into... stuff?" Lily asks.
"What?"
"Like... what do kids like...?"
"What do kids like?"
"Yeah."
"Do you think every kid likes the same things?"
"Well... y'know there's... trends and stuff I guess."
"I don't follow trends."
"Me neither."
"Clearly."
