One by one, you grab the showcased weapons and give them a try. A little swing here, a careful thrust aimed at the empty space right there - this helps you determine which one suits you best. The uppity deerman grimaces at your inoffensive tests, clearly displeased. Your solution? Ignoring him.
Some of the spears are heavier and more difficult to wield than others. Despite being crafted by a dwarf, their length matches – if not surpasses - that of the pointy sticks your tribe wields. “Midgets have to compensate for their low height somehow” is the thought that crosses your mind. The longest ones also have a strange blade attached to them below the metal head, a strange type of design you’ve never seen before.
After you're done trying all the tools of war, you find yourself relatively fond of a medium-sized one with a rather fancy look. It has two decorative wings extending from the base of the head, which is slightly curved, but not overly so that it would be impractical in battle. It’s aesthetic and comfortable to wield - a nice combination. The smith notices you took interest in this one. “Ah, s-so you want the Lightbringer…”
“Lightbwinger?”
“T-that’s the name the o-officer who ordered that spear g-gave it. T-the Lightbringer is o-one of my best crafts - t-took me several weeks to forge. I-it’s got a rather c-complex e-enchantment as well.”
“Enchawment?”
“By H-harfid’s beard, y-you REALLY are a cl-clueless one, a-aren’t you...” He sighs. “W-when we say a-an object is ‘enchanted’, i-it means a pr-priest bl-blessed it with the L-lord’s holy powers. Swords, m-maces, arrows, spears… a-all our w-weapons must be s-sanctified so w-we can slay d-demons for *real* with t-them. O-otherwise, those fiends w-would spawn back in Hell u-upon death.”
“Oh, so kiwing a demon with a non-enchanted weapon doesn’t get wid of them fowevew?” You didn’t know that. Sounds like an important bit of info to keep in mind.
“T-that’s what I s-said, y-you dumb oa-“ He shuts up and composes himself. “… W-well, i-it w-would be a shame to h-hand over the Lightbringer to a… a… n-nevermind. I-it’s all yours, m-my gnoll friend.” He forces another smile. “S-so long as it h-helps you g-get rid of t-that foul demon.”
