>>5313632You close your tome and summon the last member of your retinue, to whom you have not spoken much or checked in on: the Thief, a Silkscale male branded with a mark of shame for theft from a superior, and betrayal of his betters among the Master Race. He h as proven invaluable as a scout, and you ask him his opinion on exploring the mountains.
“We could muster an expedition,” he muses quietly, as quietly as he does and says most things. “Would we be raiding, treating, or avoid the dwarves?”
>Raid the dwarves—steal their things, drive them out of your mountain, and put them on warning>Open negotiations with these mammals, at least for now—the kobolds of Bloodrise have a new master, and he wishes to trade goods and knowledge>Avoid them, and observe from afar; chart them, their numbers and resources, their comings and goings… But avoid discovery>OPEN WAR—destroy all dwarves, in a brutal blitzkrieg“And what of the other mammals?” the Thief asks.
You stare daggers at him.
“Apologies, Superior One,” he grimaces, bowing low. “I… Was coming to tell you. While you have been busying yourself, so too have I. I have been scouting the woodlands below, keeping watch for our returning forces. There are… Adventurers, I suppose. Queerly-attired mammals, a half-elf and some humans, and a little one—halfling. They have been snooping around the abandoned human-turned-kobold settlement.
This is a concern—if they find kobolds, they may kill them, or capture them for information. If nobody interrupts their ransacking of the twice-abandoned village, they may see this as sign of kobold weakness and come further up the mountain in search of glory and treasure… But then, you could always withdraw, you suppose, or silence them most brutally.
What do you do about the adventurers?
>Let them snoop—just make sure nobody sees you or your forces>Send a force down to destroy them, before these ‘adventurers’ can report anything back>Confront them directly, and announce your dominion of this place—it is YOURS, and you will not cower from monkeys in your own wood![Write-ins are allowed.
