>>6061910>>6061910Another thunk, another missile streaks out closely followed by its counterpart from your wingman — conventional warheads seeking their locked target for the killing blow. Belatedly you see your opponent try to do the same, but it seems like Neb had not pre-programmed both of his missiles in succession because that second’s delay costs him.
>>6060521>>6060569>Both Coen and Dallas expend an ordnance, firing am [ORD: SEEK] at RH-04 with a +10 bonus from MIND+. (Base chance 70% - 20% range penalty - 10% enemy evading + 10% MIND+) Both hit. >Neb expends an ordnance, firing—>RN-04 destroyed.A pair of miniature suns brighten the void for a few moments and then fade. Nothing is left of RN-04 but an almost invisible cloud of expanding atoms.
“HA! WE GOTTEM!” Cleo howls.
“Nuh uh!” Kiro replies over the comm sticking out a forked tongue belligerently. “You just softened them up, we got the kill!”
“Now listen here you little-”
“Children, behave.” You roll your eyes at the playful bickering, “We’ve still got one more fly to swat before we’re done here so stay sharp!”
Matthew and Sofia’s Foxbat desperately launches its own EMP missiles to ward off pursuit but seems to be losing power. That or they’re hesitating after having noticed the now visibly pulsating light growing ever brighter from the asteroid they’re about to pass.
>Sophia expends an ordnance, firing an [ORD: EMP] at sector R. No target.>Sophia attempts to Comm an outside source. The ominous glow suddenly goes dark for a second and you almost catch up to your last opponent when suddenly your entire viewport is filled with a stream of light. You’re almost blinded despite the viewport’s automatic tinting instantly switching to its darkest setting. Every instrument on your panel goes crazy as harsh static plays over the cockpit’s speakers.
When it finally clears you blink away the afterimages, faithfully imposed on you by the immersive simulation, and find no trace of your last opponent.
“Wh-what was that?” Cleo whines softly.
“Enemy is no longer on our scanner.” Kiro reports, the comm still a little crackly. “I-I think we won?”
You confirm it for yourself with your own instruments, noting that your shields have already begun to regenerate — not that they would have helped. If you’d been just a little closer to MS-03, you would have shared their fate.

Before you can celebrate, the scanner registers a new contact but it must still be on the fritz because the size rating almost fills the small graphic display.
“Unknown contact, dead ahead!” Coen reports. The rare note of alarm in his voice makes you snap your head up just in time to see a huge shape go blurring past — seemingly launched from the asteroid’s interior. It’s gone before you can get a good look at it but the oversized chevron on your scope indicates that it's circling around above you.
