>>5723553"Please, anybody listening. I deserve what's coming to me but please let my fellow commanders live."
Alvin Raine was a scumbag. He was raised in the mountains as bandit trash and spent his youth killing for gain till one day it all came crashing down on him.
Alvin lost his will to live then gained it back by trying to right the wrongs he'd done but there was still too much red on his ledger he'd needed to answer for. He'd already come to terms with his death, just another nameless corpse that ultimately made the world better with his passing.
But all around him men fought and died for a war they never deserved or truly understood, under orders high up by people that never really cared. None of them should be here, scum should be content to kill each other and leave everyone else alone.
Lt Alvin Raine thought back to his fellow commanders, some he'd known for years and some he'd met recently. All of them deserved better lives.
"Jonah, Franny, Martins, Leo, Totmann..."
Then he thought about their commanding officers, carrying too much weight on their shoulders and refusing help from the commanders.
"Haile, Yule..."
"Everyone, Please live"

It wasn't a lie, Raine never feared death but he didn't welcome it. There was still too much to put right to be suicidal.
