Come on.” You pull the berserker’s hand back as you lead her down back into the dark, the lantern alight at your side. As you break from the hall, you cast a glance back at the darkness behind you. “Your daughter would be ashamed of you if she knew what you were doing.” The shadows do not respond to your provocation.
You find them soon enough–the same party of black hats and flags, you near trip into the group’s arms along the uneven ground. “There’s a wolfman behind us.” You speak clear, albeit a bit short for breath. “He’s intelligent. He’s trying to kill us. Lend your help.”
They understand your loose string of words well enough. In an instant, the front and back form a tight, circular pack along either end of the hall with you at its center–each one with guns and blades in hands, they narrow their aim into the darkness, their lanterns set at the ground beneath them. A moment passes. And then another..
“Could he have.. left, Von Gundyr?” Millicent briefly glances back from the sights of her pistol. “..Are you sure it was even a wolf man you saw? Because I see none here.”
