Lucian wondered if this was a great idea, or even a decent one. Walking up towards the village it was a question but it was one that he did not really know to answer yet. It did not matter though, for as he walked through the canopy of trees he was committed.
“Sir Lucian!” The moment he stepped out of the forest Lucian saw a score of men wielding wooden spears and other instruments at his sides, “You’re alive! Did you slay the beast?”
“By the grace of Morr I am alive.” Lucian told them as he took a breath. Tightening his fist he could feel the pain from the blood dribble down through his hand, the weird water like liquid flowing. A sting, but it was something else than the worries he felt, “I did not slay the beast for there was no need to do so. Bok!”
Lucian saw the faces of the men pale as they watched the trees behind Lucian begin to shake and part. The massive form of Bok, a Kroxigor who could easily murder men with his beastial jaws and claws, emerged from the forest on two legs. In his hands were gripping a tree trunk, one that was just the right size for the massive monster to use it as a weapon.
The men brought their weapons up in a couch waiting for the monster to advance upon them. Bok looked upon each of them with a studying eye, but these were closer to a wolf looking upon its prey. Measuring whether they were an easy mark for the monster to destroy.
“Put down your weapons!” Lucian told them as he raised a hand towards them, “The Kroxigor will do you no harm.”
“W-why would we! It is a monster, a beastman! Why…” One of the men said in confusion as he looked upon Bok.
They were not attacking it, but Lucian needed to come up with a good reason here.
>It is the steed of a friend
>I have tamed it!
>It's alive because we would die if we fought it genuinely.
