A proud and rather haughty figure seen to possess the three noble attributes, his claim to the throne was once considered tenuous (as the line of succession had become muddied in previous generations) but his size and strength (and a well-chosen marriage) have all allowed him to secure and consolidate his authority and 'encourage' the other claimants to put their claims aside.
