>>5752398NAND, REIGN OF SORCERORS
Nand is a nation of lizardmen with an abnormally low magical potential. The few mages that exist among them, however, are quite powerful, and have assumed a ruling position.
The rulers of Nand are benevolent, but indolent. They remain content in letting life flow by itself in the jungle where they reign, the interchanging of seasons bringing harvest and wealth to this land. They are warriors at rest, ever ready to protect their people, but not quite investing in their prosperity. The land, however, is fertile, and the people propser even without the sponsorship of the kings.
There is a large minority of humans in Nand with their own distinct culture. Oddly enough, these men manage to live together with the lizardmen without much conflict, probably the result of ages of coexistence. There are local rulers of humans, but none are kings.
The people of Nand have tamed some of the beasts of the jungle for their own purposes, the most notable among them being the dramur - raptor-like enduring herbivores that became beasts of burden.
Magic among Nanders is considered a force to be used in war and for great purposes rather than in everyday life - a consequence of it being possessed only by the greatest of the people.
Nanders are quite adept actors and mood readers with developed drama and diplomacy - the art of emotion is common knowledge among them. This is only true of the peaceful rear, however. The frontier is heavily militarized against threats from the outer world. There is a degree of conflict between the lax interior and the warriors of the borders.
Other notable cultural aspects of the Nanders are their colourful clothing and strong loyalty to their family.
Their mages are adept in all paths of magic except blood.
Nander special sites are Alkes, the capital and place of lizardmen heavy spears training, Wetone, human admin centre and jungle guard training site, Isavi, where magical research is carried out, and Bagr, with the largest animal market, logistics centre and dramur rider training ground.
