All that plays over the speaker is static and the distant sound of a storm in the distance.
The call ends then. You hang up the receiver. That was surreal, to say the least.
Neither of you really know how to feel about that odd call. Your gut tells you that this call wasn't from this world. It's hard to say WHY you feel that, though.
"Wh-whoever 'he' is, d-do you think it's a g-good idea to talk to him?" Lucy voices her skepticism now that the call's over.
"Dunno but this phone's clearly not normal. The guy's probably not normal either but, maybe it's worth it?" It really depends on what 'deal' he's going to offer you. You might as well keep an ear out for the phone ringing again.
>You'll get another call this shift. You might've just unlocked a unique opportunity.
You put the phone away since you can't spend all day waiting for another call. You call over Anthony to help out with a small test you have in mind: a cross-test. You don't have too many options for cross-tests, but this one could show promise.
Wine that erases memories and a flower that records anything you speak into it. What happens if you cross-pollinate the two? Eh? God, you're SO funny, Vincent.
You give Anthony a brief rundownon the two anomalies and ask if he can offer his two cents on your proposal.
He scratches his chin. "Mixin' water and potassium here, me thinks. Contrasting ideas or what not. Knew a guy who mixed a sample of some lusty, gropin' beast with a sample from an angel."
"Tissue samples merged or somethin' into some large, slime-like jelly. Ain't pretty but it could lead somewhere. Be careful, that's all I can say."
"A-alright. V-vincent, m-mind handling the flower sample for me, please?"
You nod. There's no point rushing this, especially after Anthony's warning.
>2 SUCCESSES!
Lucy prepares three beakers with various levels of dilution: no dilution, 25% water to 75% wine, and an even 50/50 split of wine and water.
Anthony watches every move you make, like a hawk, in case shit hits the fan. You whisper some random test phrases into the WIRE FLOWER beforehand to see how the wine may affect them.
You carefully lower the WIRE FLOWER you have into the 50/50 mixture, making sure you don't disturb the mixture too much. Lucy stands away at a safe distance as she records everything that's going on.
The WIRE FLOWER crackles back to life now that it's being given water. It first speaks in your own voice, given that's what it recorded. "TEST PHRASE #1-" Your voice is drowned out by a sudden wave of static, and once the flower begins to speak again, it no longer speaks in your voice.
It's not even speaking in English anymore, but you still understand it: It's in Spanish Your mind automatically translates what it's saying. While you don't speak it that often anymore, you did grow up in a Spanish-speaking household.
"THE FOX BROWN." The man speaking from the flower has a far deeper register. Older too, probably late 40s?
