The journey deeper into Luna II has not taken long, even if the introduction of Revil’s cadre of officers felt like it did - Elran, the unremarkable looking general you’re meant to retrieve the recorder from was there with them, as was one of his aides, and a few others of high rank besides. The names and faces of the others matter little, and your attention has been split between Revil and the fortress itself, with just enough left for keeping an eye on Federation soldiers in case someone decides to be very young and very stupid. Assassination attempts are a real risk, though you’re sure Revil has done what he can to keep the chance very low.
Luna II’s reinforced interior is impressive, far more so than you had expected - several great ship bays are passed by on your way deeper into the asteroid, at least two dozen Salamis undergoing resupply, refitting, or repair, and a even a pair of battleships. There are empty moorings for far more, and hundreds of fighters besides, though most of those are kept tucked away deeper in secondary hangars and launch tubes. You know there are at least four more areas like this on the base, likely holding as many or more ships. Something far more alarming catches your eye though, very far away across a busy hangar, tucked off in a cubby along with four other similar machines.
A Mobile Suit.
A hideous, riveted, crude grey monstrosity of one, with a cannon strapped across its shoulder for some reason, and hands that look to be clumsy and yet still flimsy grabber claws rather than dextrous or armored, but it is undeniably a mobile suit. …Or a close imitation, considering its flaws. In a lot of ways it looks as if someone modified the top half of an old guntank to have legs, and then stripped most of its firepower away. Vivima’s eyesight isn’t as sharp as yours, but you tap her lightly to get her attention and nod slightly toward the distant machines, which is all she needs to notice as well. Even more eyebrow raisingly at least two dozen pods look to have been converted to mount heavy weapons, simple recoilless rifles and rocket pods mostly, and are being kept alongside the primitive mobile suits.
>”...Those maintenance pods are armed. I almost feel sorry for whoever gets sent out in one of those.” Speak quietly with Vivima.>”General, those are interesting machines you have over there - New production?” >Keep your silence, it is unlikely Revil or any of the officers here will let a word slip about anything happening here, things can be discussed another time.>Write-in.
