On a different note, the rooms here are positively decadent. Even with Mikail, Jess, Orin and Antoninus all hosted in the main section of your quarters you still have an acceptable degree of privacy from an ensuite that looks down upon the City. It is quite a sight, to say the least. The view from the Comitas Chapter Master’s quarters could not hope to compare, perhaps the view is one reason why so many of the Guard extend their term of service. As for the role of your companions, you understand that many other Dragon Guard members come with their own entourage or retinues. While not members of the Guard themselves, those additional members fall into a sort of auxiliary command structure that supplements the elite core of the Guard. You’re not sure how that will translate in field operations where you and the Guard’s heavy cavalry will operate en masse, but that is not a pressing concern today. Certainly there should be no issue making arrangements in this luxurious private room.
With little to do but admire the surroundings while your people get you settled in to your new home for the next two years, you decide to introduce yourself to the only other member of the 43rd Talon that was present in the common room. You find the man taking his ease there, still reading. You had only seen him from the left-hand side when you passed by earlier, so when you return it is first you have noticed that his right arm is in a sling.
“You must be our new comrade.” The man beams at you, his pale blue eyes in stark contrast with his swarthy complexion.
“Sir Emile Andrei, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” You start as the man places his book down and begins to shuffle himself with a wince. “Oh please don’t get up on my account, sir.”
“Very kind of you, sir knight.” The two of you share a humorous smile from the inherent awkwardness of a left-handed handshake. “If it pleases, Sir Benjamin Ibram, second lance of the 43rd Talon.”
You struggle and fail to recall any Cantonian noble house by the name of ‘Ibram’. It’s certainly a peculiar name, and something of that thought must have shown in your face.
