>>5775498her film Marie Antoinette (2006) hehe is actually another visual indulgence for me, it is a bit anachronistic but I think of it as the ultimate cinematic expression and film-making culmination of pre 2008 Financial Crisis decadence. I did like the weaving in of some apparent historical details (a rumoured affair with a Swedish ambassador etc) but if I remember correctly, I was most impressed with the ending of this film, where Coppola does not show all the revolutionary mobs and riots or guillotines etc, it simply ends with her fleeing in a carriage in darkness. I thought that was a far more ominous and foreboding sense of threat than even just showing tumbrels and a raised guillotine axe blade etc.
