The two of you begin telling him about the attack, starting with Liza’s lapse in judgement. He seems particularly annoyed when he hears about Lenny walking into the base with a target on his head.
“How careless. They should have stayed out.”
”Could have gone better. We heard an explosion right after, like a whole bunch of breaching bombs going off at the same time. But we were occupied deeper in.”
Bit by bit, you tell your tale. You go over the eerily silent Espimon, Leomon’s last stand, and finally, the actual fight with Sealsdramon. He seems concerned when you bring up the casualties.
“A rogue agent. That’s a higher level of freedom than I’m used to. I knew that footage was real the moment I saw it, Squid did a good job stripping everything identifiable from it." He pauses. "What was it Hi-Commandramon said again? About how he got away with it.”
”That Sealsdramon was finding workarounds for the mission rules.”
“I’ve only heard of City Digimon deserting once in my life. And it was nothing major. Just one fugitive who got hunted down. Disobeying to this degree is new to me. I’m sorry to say, there’s nothing that can be done for those folks. At least they’re not DMIA, so the suffering was finite.”
“What about the podded? When I was inside…”
“Nothing to be done for them either. They’re essentially static objects. If I was Wind, I’d smuggle them to the surface. Then the bots can bring the pods to The Tower. Their odds will be better then.”
He doesn’t push you for more info about what it’s like inside. You described it as best as you can, and he picked up on your discomfort.
”There’s really nothing? I haven’t even tried breaking them yet.”
“No, I doubt you could, even with the power of Astamon. MAYBE, just maybe Brigadramon could, but that’s out of the question, obviously.”
“Then they’re as good as dead.”
“Which is why I suggest bringing them to the surface. Non-zero chances then.”
