>>5660825You and Corrine follow Sylvain to his personal quarters; a tent barely larger than those the regular soldiers are sleeping in. As you step inside, you find a small table has been set up, with a few Blue Lions already there waiting for you. Annette sits at one side, drinking from a delicate looking teacup. Across from her are Ingrid and Mercedes, who is currently fiddling with the former’s hair, despite her protests. Felix is at the head of the table, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
“Hey! Liven up everyone. I brought our drinking companions for the night.” Sylvain shouts, announcing your presence to the group. “Put the tea away, Annette. Tonight, we drink to our good fortune tomorrow!”
“Blegh!” Annette sticks her tongue out. “You know I hate that stuff. Couldn’t you find anything sweeter?”
“Times are tough, my dear. We must make do with what we have.” He reaches into a chest, producing several serving cups, and begins distributing them amongst those present. You and Corrine take a seat opposite Mercedes and Ingrid.
“It really is nice to see you again, Blair.” Ingrid gives you a warm smile. “It’s kind of funny to think that only a few years ago you and I were at this exact same battlefield opposing each other. And now, we’re going to be fighting on the same side.”
“Yes, if I recall correctly, Blair won that bout did she not?” Corrine says smugly. Your face reddens and you move to chastise her but before you can, you’re surprised to hear Ingrid laughing.
“Yes, she did. I was immature and mad, that I can’t deny. But I suppose that’s just the way battles go sometimes. It was a learning experience to not let my emotions get the better of myself. I suppose I can at least thank you for that, Blair.”
>You shake your head, helping yourself to a glass of Sylvain’s wine. “It was a dirty trick. No surprise it was Hubert’s idea.”Ingrid shakes her head. “Trick or not, you came out on top during the mock battle. I just hope you have a few more up your sleeve come tomorrow. I’ve heard much about the dreaded ‘Witch’ and her band of mercenaries. I’m looking forward to flying with her.”
“Oh yes!” Mercedes interjects with a surprised expression. “Is it really true what they say? That you cook the bones of your enemies in a cauldron and can change the weather at will?”
“It is.” Corrine says.
>“It is not!” The Blue Lions erupt into laughter. Even Felix seems to join in on the merriment, helping himself to a cup of sour wine. Annette asks you to fill the group in on some of the adventures you’d been up to since leaving Charon all those years ago.
