"Ma, I know this is a lot to deal with. I'm just as pissed off as you are, but if a bunch of goddamn werewolves don't wanna mess with these people, I think that we better be scared too. I know this is crazy, but they're doing this to save our lives."
"How do you know you can trust a word that comes outta their mouths?" She's not entirely convinced. Murphy opens his mouth to speak but you cut in first.
"'cause they're taking you with them too. I'm the one they want but I fucked up by telling you about this shit. Murphy could've just kept his mouth shut and left you back in Eastchurch to die. He didn't. He's risking his neck for you and I gotta pay him back by having a little faith in him. We've got enough time to ask just one thing but then we really gotta get going, Ma."
"You wanna know about your dad," your mom quietly surmises, having simmered down a little. You nod.
"Why the hell would we know anything about him?" Murphy is bewildered. "Just because he might've been a werewolf too, that doesn't mean I've got any clue who the guy was. At least give me a name to work with."
"He's called Wade," you reply. "He came through town about eighteen years ago. I thought he might be a part of your pack or tribe or whatever. Tall, mysterious, lots of scars. None of that rings a bell?" Your question causes Jasper to guffaw.
"My dear boy, you just described over half of the Garou population! Fear not however, for I just so happen to have a trick or two up my sleeve that may help you with your conundrum." No wonder that they call him Talks-Fancy. The bum loves the sound of his own voice. "Ah, but that will have to wait until later. Right now, we should well and truly be on our way!"
Before you can answer him, Sees-Forest-For-Trees shapeshifts before your very eyes. Some of his clothes tear while others fall off as his shape changes into that of a wolf - a really fucking big wolf, so big that you would think it was a bear from a distance. From this angle, you can see a shock of red fur on his flank, disrupting the animal's otherwise brown coat. Your mom yelps at the sight of this transformation, and again when Jasper adopts the form of the dire wolf as well. His many coats somehow meld into his body as he becomes a lumbering beast covered in ragged, patchy fur.
"We won't make it in a day if we run with human feet," Murphy explains before he turns to your mother. "Ma'am, you'll need to choose one of us to ride and you better hold on tight, for your own sake." The look on her face is priceless. You'd laugh if the situation wasn't so grim.
>You want a ride too. You're still not all that used to shapeshifting and you'd rather conserve what little energy you have.
>Put your faith in Murphy. This will be your first time in this form, so you might be a bit clumsy. (This will spend 1 Will [Shapeshift].)
>You will carry her. You barely know any of these guys, you don't trust them to look after your mom. (This will spend 1 Will [Shapeshift].)
