“Hey Luke,” You yell through the curtains of slick green-grey vines that form a lattice, blocking your path to join your friend. With a quick movement of your hand, you draw your Lightsaber, ignite the blade, and effortlessly slice through the vegetation with a satisfying hum. Tips of the severed foliage glow with a vibrant yellow. It is a rewarding feeling, while no great deed, this is the first time your Lightsaber has bitten into an object and cleaved it with ease.
The two figures turn to the sound of your voice, and the whistle of the blade. “Chris? What are you doing here?”
“Looking for you, and hoping to fight off boredom. What are you guys up to?”
Claire cuts in, stealing the chance for Luke to answer, “I was just about to show Luke this new Force trick I just learnt how to pull off.”
You can tell it is a lie, not because you reached into the Force and pulled thoughts from their minds but because of the utterly confused visage Luke wears on his face. He nods along in agreement but is still visibly confused. Deciding not to press the issue, everyone deserves their own secrets, you walk up to them and make the duo into a trio. You heavily suspect they hold affection for each other, you see how Luke’s eyes trail off during lectures and gravitate to the young Ramdar girl. And you would not fault him for it, she does have a budding beauty which you would not argue against. But her abrasiveness and awkwardness are somethings you have never been able to tolerate.
Diverting the conversation, Luke asks, “So, where have you been?”
With a cocksure grin on your mouth, you recall your recent victory, “Nothing much, just sparred with a Knight and won.”
“Like fuck you did,” He snorts. “The only thing you could beat is a blind Swamp-Rat.”
“And you have never beaten me because you are a blind Swap-Rat?” You retort, reminding him of his continuous streak of losses against yourself. Hiding a slight annoyance at his lack of belief in your achievement. This is something you will have to get Alyla to admit to it some point which will be a battle in itself.
“Are you telling the truth?” Claire watches the pair of you, utterly puzzled. Then, turning to Luke, “Christopher has shown himself to be the best in our clan when it comes to Lightsaber training, it is possible.”
“I’m not going to argue either way, believe what you want. And you are free to ask Jedi Knight Alyla.” You reply curtly.
Luke cuts in, “Ah, so that’s it, she gave you a pity win.”
