>>5595330>>5595316>>5595287You step back and swing the sword forward again. Already moving swiftly, the incubus’ war-form is caught upon your blade, snagged upon the toothy edge of it as the fanged surface reverses course to catch jaggedly on loose flesh. Oh, you’re strong, and skilled, and in a pinch you’re sure you’d win a sword fight, but you’re not STUPID. The incubus is wearing a bespoke combat-body, and there’s no good reason to face it at full strength when you could weaken it a little first.
You take a deep breath, and flex your jaw a little bit. Doing this feels strange in your human guise, illusory and superficial as the transformation may be. The reflexes don’t come as naturally as they normally do. Still, the fire-lung is untransformed, the false palate in the back of your throat still flaps and flexes into place to form the channel. You purse your strange, ape-like lips and the rest flows as it should. The dragonfire erupts, swallowing up the raven-faced hellspawn in fury, flame, and acrid smoke…
“Just like home! How thoughtful of you.”
The voice is no closer than it was before, being a psychic projection, so only your <Danger Sense> warns you to leap back and avoid the demon’s grasping hand as it surges out of the flame. Hidden from your sight by your own breath-weapon’s after-effects, the incubus avatar closed distance with you before you even consciously realized it. Worse yet, you haven’t yet recoiled your elongated shoggoth-sword to a more appropriate size for close-quarters combat. You’d been counting on maintaining distance a little longer. After all, while all demons are fire-RESISTANT, this is just a form manufactured of human meat, and you hardly expected it to be completely firePROOF!
Luckily, then, your <Radiant Aura> is not fire. You dodge another blow, and will it to manifest...
