>>5324137Although it feels like you really haven’t climbed that high at all, somehow the wired ground has all-but disappeared from your sights, encompassed by a foggy, gold miasma.
Though, you do see tiny sprites flitting to-and-fro further down. Perhaps the concept of distance doesn’t follow any real rules in this place; you think that would explain it.
Refocusing your mind on the present, you spot an exit to your left– a large, white door covered in stickers of all sorts: retro games, KIT sports’ fan paraphernalia, and various other things that are utterly and undeniably male, which leads you to believe that the owner of this place is probably a guy who’s no older than you (if not a little older).
You waste no time scooting yourself towards it, and the handle creaks ominously when you turn it.
There’s an expectation for the room to be filled with some other, trippy theme or horror.
And yet… flicking on the lightswitch, you find it’s just a bedroom– a normal guy’s bedroom, if not a bit messy, plastic bottles rolling across the floor as you kick them.
The smell of stale chicken hits your nose as well, and, just like back in the circuit maze, the floor and desk are also riddled with stray electronic parts that, while far tinier than the ones in the labyrinth, end up digging into your feet.
Meanwhile, a tack board is perched above a desk, whose contents you can’t decipher from where you stand. You’re certain it’s not your own vision, but, yet again, it feels like another trick of this place’s depth perception.
From the left, the smell of cooking hits your nose– chicken and potatoes, to be precise. So strong, you can even smell the spices and dressings intertwined with it.
For whatever reason, the dream world has made it so that such a wholly normal meal actually appeals to you, as opposed to the usual repulsion you feel upon smelling it.
Again, you’re sure it's this mutant’s feelings being superimposed onto you, but you’re not one to argue if it smells that good. Without your permission, you feel your mouth water, but quickly you shake your head. Focus on the mission, dammit!
