>>5141446Your eyes closed, too comfortable to move. But you couldn't sleep here. "Where did you learn to bake cookies?" You asked, conversation helping to keep you awake.
<span class="mu-r">"It's been three years silly… I have picked up a trick or two since we were last together."</span> You could feel her smiling, you smiled too. "I've made friends with Gamma and the Eta candidates. They are good guys. Do you think... You could become friends with them as well? Or would you rather wait first?" You felt her mouth open, but she stammered. Words cautiously coming out.
<span class="mu-r">"I did notice… I don't think they'll want to be my friend. Not after our fight. The Eta girl was very angry to see me… But I understand that. I felt angry when I saw her too. I'll apologize to them..."</span> She sounded unsure, clearly hesitant. You couldn't blame her, she hadn't made the best impression.
"I'll talk to them about it." She hugged you tighter, smothering her words as she thanked you. "The other units... They reasonably will think we hate each other. What should we do about that? Beta pretty much hates me too." You were unsure what rumours were going around. But the fight wouldn't help, at least you had gotten an in with most of the other pilots.
<span class="mu-r">"I don't care what they think!"</span> she declared, obviously annoyed by the prospect of having to deal with others. You guessed that was the best you'd get from her in the current circumstances. Thoughts slowing you could tell sleep was close to snatching you.
With the dinosaur still in your hand you pinched it between two fingers, letting out a low roar. Your tiny toy strutted it's way up her arm. The girl smiled like a fool, mimicking the noises as she produced her own dinosaur. It clambered along your shoulders biting your neck in the same place as she did.
<span class="mu-r">"See now you're hers too."</span> You mimic the act. Your dinosaur biting at her neck, the girl wiggling wildly to escape as you tickled her. Her laughter echoed around the empty room. Eventually the playing fell away, strangely you felt calm. You couldn't remember feeling this way before. A deep pain echoed in the emptiness of your memory.
