Autonomous spirits run Necron Ships to Palaces and such. When a Phaeron dies and a new one takes their place, the Autonomous Spirit recognizes their identity and follows their commands.
Critically they also have a ban on more sentient AI being installed in canoptek constructs, which explains how like the Mechanicus/Imperium they avoid AI rebellions
