>>6312988>>6312990A quick lazy paint edit to illustrate my point
The red lines are those open gaps I'd rather have covered with pike companies, the yellow one is the camp itself
My worry would be that leaving the left red line exposed or the camp itself vacant could allow cavalry companies to freely maneuver and flank the troops inside and around the wagons
So my suggestion would be to have all open gaps covered, the non-pike melee troops guarding the potential exits from the camp and the shot placed on the wagons and both forests
The pikemen can counter the cavalry in the open, and the cavalry can't charge through the wagons. They can't move through the forest properly or quickly without being exposed any shot we place there. And although they can cross the camp, I imagine they can't fight well in the narrow space there or make a proper charge across it, which would be to the non-pike infantry's advantage
>I wonder just how much the camp would disorganize their horseWhat I mean is that they won't be able to properly couch their lances while having to maneuver through all the tents/obstacles, their formation's order will be broken as they have to guide their horses through the camp, be funneled through tents, etc. It's different from having them charge in the open.
Then in the melee they'd be constantly hindered by all the obstacles and tents and not be able to move around properly. In that situation they'd be very vulnerable to being dragged down, attacked, etc.
It's basically similar to them trying to fight in a forest. Without freedom of movement they'd be very exposed in the melee
>I do wonder if we have time for the musketeers to give the giant archers a volley before positioning themselves in the wagonburgI think that might be a good idea, especially considering the giant archers can arc their arrows to avoid our fortifications besides their range
>So I've been thinking, between developing hotshot rounds, and maybe attempting to invent cannister shot, perhaps we might attempt to sway that artillery master we hired to set up his own artillery school in Portblanc, with us as a partner/patronI could see TercioQM making something like that a future choice in the quest depending on how the story goes. I'd probably support these choices if allowed
>Another vaguely useful idea I had, was maybe attempting to create 'war wagons' armored up and using a combination of wall guns and swivel gunsLike a beefed up hussite war wagon? I imagine they'd be rather useful as long as they can link up to form a proper defensive wall, but having the gunpowder for the artillery packed in a convenient target might make them vulnerable to the enemy artillery or even shot (maybe they can be armored enough to be arquebus/musket-proof though?), so I'm not completely sure if their deployment wouldn't bite us in the ass. But it's an interesting idea
