>>5273486After giving Gron the signal that you're about to start, SHODAN finds herself a nice, big chunk of scrap and slowly pulls it over to a relatively empty stretch of space, in clear view of one of the drone ships.
Fiddling with the little red button in your hand, you watch the encrypted comms chatter explode as your reactor suddenly fires up and you accelerate full bore, dragging the huge chunk of ship debris along with you. In the cockpit, you feel the ship's internal gravity fall to zero.
The other ships don't have any time to try and pinpoint your location before SHODAN finishes her run-up, letting the debris fall free of your ship's gravity field. The Metal Gear veers off, but your debris continues on it's trajectory.
Although partially blocked by junk, you get a spectacular flash of light as the debris rips through the drone ship's shields and tears it in half. You're not exactly sure what cause such a huge detonation, but it's enough to send shrapnel in every direction.
With that initial shot fired, you press the detonator in your hand and watch as bright lights shine momentarily across the debris field.
<span class="mu-i">"Three reactor signatures confirmed offline. Encrypted chatter is spiking. They've connected to their drones, Captain."</span>
"Good. Divert power from non-critical systems. That includes the gravity, i only need dampening for the crew."
<span class="mu-i">"Already done."</span>
Several dozen surveillance drones swarm your location and begin firing on you, but their lasers dissipate significantly in the hot gas of the nebula before even reaching your shields. Even if they didn't though, you're pretty sure it wouldn't make a difference.
The drones shatter against your shield en-mass and are swept away along with bits of other debris as you burn full-speed towards the nearest drone ship. It doesn't react until you're in view, but by then it's too late.
You pull the trigger on your flight stick and lay a burst of 20mm tungsten penetrators into it's side, which visibly rip right through it and out the other side.
Either these things are lightly armored, or they were never meant to take a bullet.
The ship almost immediately loses power and starts to list, crashing into the hull of a ruined carrier as it's shields fail.
Out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of Gron's vessel, the Star-Fall. It's engaging two ships at once, but it's powerful shields are proving plenty of a match against their lasers.
This is your chance. While they're focused on the Star-Fall, you drop in and fire two Marauders in their direction. SHODAN takes over, and they immediately begin tracking the targets.
Just before impact, Gron activates the Star-Fall's layered shielding, and the missiles detonate flawlessly against the enemy hulls. There's no great flash of light, but massive holes are ripped into each of them.
They immediately fall silent, looking more like swiss cheese than the functional vessels they had been just moments ago.
