Having asked him where to start, you in fact spoke first.
"The mercenaries, I cannot have armed men outside of my command in Dawnholme. So what will we do with them?" You asked him and continued. "Because we have a few options."
"Which would be?" Pelija asked you and chose to listen.
"The Alteraci law is very short about this, but only soldiers and servants of the crown can bear long blades and other common weapons in towns and in cities. Now of course as a Prince I can rule however I want, but following the laws as they exist is a basis of good and just rulership, don't you agree?" You said and asked.
"Yes of course." He replied.
"But the issue is twofold, the law is somewhat vague, does it mean that the weapons can't be just carried or is the ownership banned as well? And can I trust the mercenaries to obey the laws?" You told him and continued. "I won't deny their stay here, that would be counterproductive and cause issues between our peoples, but there are a couple options."
"Prince Alric, are you planning on confiscating the weapons or just banning their carry?" Pelija asked you.
In this group only there were nearly ten fighters and forty others who had blades and could carry them. That would be a lot of armed men in Dawnholme, rivalling your City Guard in numbers if not in gear.
>Based on the law, the Stonemason's cannot carry their weapons in public. They can be stashed in their homes or in other secured locations until they are needed.
>Confiscate their weapons. As they don't serve you, bearing arms is illegal. Gain 3 Supplies
>Don't enforce the law. There is no need to cause any potential issues.
>Other, write in.
>Let the mercenaries be and settle down for now. You will decide what you will exactly do with them on a later date after everyone has arrived.
>Ask about recruiting them into your City Guard. Having Stonemasons amongst your guards could be useful, if they actually enforce the peace.
>You want to recruit them into your military. Ask about their willingness to join it.
>Lord Blackmoore is planning a campaign against gnolls, he is going to need mercenaries and skilled fighters are always needed.
>Other, write in.
QM: Please vote on both. A shorter update just to get things moving again. I will try to catch up missed days during the weekend.
