>>6328427The displays flick back to the tower. You’re once more able to see the remaining competitors and the floors that they reside on. Gyles and Leonora have left the library, and now walk through a lush field of flowers. Unlike you and Crowley, neither of them look worse for wear.
“They’ve reached Floor 32.” Pyrrho says. “They’re impressive, no doubt about it. Were that strange boy not there on Floor 10 to take the brunt of the attention away from me, I don’t think I’d have made it out alive. With their skill, I wonder why they even bother with cheating.”
“Cheating?” Crowley says with surprise. “They’re cheating? How?”
“You haven’t seen a Heal Panel yet, have you?” Pyrrho asks. “Those specific panels are being controlled from Floor 40. According to the console’s logs, they’ve only appeared on floors those two have been on. They’re being restored back to full health and magic with each advancement. Someone must be keen on them winning.”
>“Bastards.” This had the stink of the Royal Sages all over it. You seethe, punching your hand. You and the others had barely been scraping by to stay alive on each floor, and those two were hogging all the healing? Was that rat Kosmas in on this? “Can you summon a Heal Panel here for me and Tristain?” Crowley asks.
“It doesn’t appear I can.” Pyrrho concedes. “But, I can reconfigure the panel that we entered from to link to the top of the tower. You’ll be done with your climb, and can advance to the next stage.”
By your estimate, there was still half around a day left to complete the tower’s climb. You could stay here, rest up, and perhaps learn a thing or two more from Pyrrho. Or, you could head towards Floor 40, and be the first one to arrive. There was no prize for that, but you’d at least enjoy the look on Arios and Leonora’s face when they ran into you.
