>>5232772As The Skeleton Knight approached the abyssal vortex, a gust of wind flew over as several souls managed to escape, with one particular heavy mass clasping at his sword as pair of wings made The Skull Knight jump back and retreat, accidentally inviting a transformed Pseudo-Apostle into the frame.
"THOU SHAL NOT WAVEEEEER!" Mozgus was completely changed, now rocking a hardened skin filled with feathers who looked more like scales covering him from head to toe.
"The preacher is still alive?" Not even The Skull Knight was expecting him to be back, being turned into an idealized version of who he wanted to be. The image of a savior, an archangel bearing the wings of purity, or at least, that's what he believed he was, if not for the fact
that he was tarnished by the most visceral energy in all dimensions.
"Can you not hear them?! Every person congregated in this place now desires, as one heart, salvation. They are eagerly awaiting the time of God's victory!" Mozgus refers not only to the pagans dying far away, but also to the screams of the souls escaping into the air, only to serve as a feedback loop to strengthen the sacrifice. "No matter how many demons God sends my way, I will end their reign of terror and prove that I was worthy of being chosen as his witness!"
"The story we are witnessing chooses no active protagonist. One look at your appearance should establish your true alignment." Not wanting to waste his breath on someone who would not listen, he jumped straight into Mozgus as he spat fire from his mouth like a gaping dragon's maw.
"GOD BREAATH!" The Skeleton only had to raise his shield to ignore Mozgus' attack, but the abyss was also attacking him in the meantime, using a chain of solidified souls to attempt to impale the knight and his mount into falling prey of their attack, giving the death he briefly managed to avoid all those years ago. He was begrudgingly forced to shift into a defensive position as he dodged Mozgus and most importantly, the powerful forces acting behind him.
Mozgus was not a particularly difficult enemy for the Skull Knight, even if he could fly and had free control of his wings to the point where he could harden them to become a second set of fists, one who survived so many encounters with the God Hand would not be afraid of a mere priest morphed into a monster with their powers.
Yet what made him take his time in this fight was not Mozgus, but the fact that he was fighting an infinite set of souls along with him, avoiding being turned into primordial Od soup while having no trouble ignoring the damage dealt to him with his shield.
"ATTACK OF THE 1000 FIST CANNONS!" Even the hammy lines from Mozgus as he made up names for his attacks didn't give him any extra advantages, the more he attacked with an immeasurable barrage of punches, the more tired he grew as his punches were as effective as punching his own reflection.
It was an enemy entirely out of his league.
