"Cell? Is everything okay?" you ask him telepathically. “Something down there?”
“Karn? Oh no, everything is fine. As far as I can tell.” he answers you. “After what happened to our last place, I've taken to patrolling while everyone else sleeps. I will not be caught unawares like that ever again.”
“Good thinking. Can never be too safe, even in your own home.” you reply to him. Then after a moment's thought add, ”Need a hand looking around?”
“No, if I need assistance I can create my own help.” he replies, you sensing him chuckling at his own joke. “But while I appreciate the offer, this is your chance to rest. Spend your time here and let your guard down. Because things are going to be getting interesting soon.”
“What do you mean by that?” you ask, realizing Cell knows something he isn't sharing. But the android doesn't reply, instead severing the mental link and continues his patrol. For several moments you are tempted to sneak out of bed and use Instant Transmission directly in front of the bug man to confront him, but Towa then murmurs out in her sleep, clutching your arm tighter to herself. Glancing over, you decide to remain here for now. After all, you're not going anywhere until Chilli recovers. So you just sigh out, content to stay in bed for now and confront him later. But as you decide this, Karn Jr. begins squirming a bit in your wife's arms. “Hey kiddo. Good morning.”
Karn Jr's head swivels around, and upon seeing you breaks into a big grin.
“Daaaa.” he says, squirming to get out of her grip and to you. So to not wake Meloka you slide your arm out from under her, Meloka murmuring something about a few more minutes, and you grab onto your youngest son. He giggles, you loosening Meloka's grip while whispering to her still-sleeping self, and take your son. You set him on your chest, facing you, where he just looks at you and smiles. You feel a grin coming to your own face as well, sliding your own arm back under your wife as he continues staring at you. However as you just lay there, the gentle rise and fall of your own chest starts lulling him back to sleep, Karn Jr's eyes beginning to droop. His head soon follows suit, your son's head bobbing back and forth as he tries staying awake. But he's clearly not enjoying this, brows furrowed in anger as sleep tries to reclaim him.
