>>5295540Mr. Won-Jae continues: “He works at the Grand Hospital, Mr. Ando. He always fought tooth and nail to convince the committee in charge to keep his patients alive. I’m sure I’m on the Comatose Wing they made specifically for him. But more importantly, Esperanza must be there as well.”
“Duly noted.” You tap your forehead. “What’s the doctor’s full name by the way?” You have a hunch but…
“In any other circumstances, I’d be hesitant to outright say it without a warning, but our conversation is way off the rails… his name is Imminenté Calamity.” A rare jokey moment from your teacher.
“I knew it.” You smirk. Of course, the Doc is the madman of this story.
“You know him?” Mr. Won-Jae both can and can’t believe it.
“Yeah, we’ve gone through a lot. I worked for him, he saved my life, I saved his, and we’re good pals!” You give a thumb up. That’s the biggest understatement in the entire conversation so far.
“Worked for him?” Mr. Won-Jae doesn’t understand how that’d work.
“Yeah, he has his own private clinic. He’s doing well, except he’s using a cane now.” You casually nod.
“That’s wonderful, Mr. Ando. Except for the cane bit. If there’s a person you can trust your life to, it’s him.” Mr. Won-Jae vouches for him.
“I know, like, I seriously know.” You try to joke around. Mr. Won-Jae looks worried. “I-I’m fine now, trust me, just a big scar here and there.” You’re not making this better. Change topics! “Anyway, do you want me to update you about some people you think I might know? Anything I can, really.”
“I hope it’d be fun, Mr. Ando.” Mr. Won-Jae is far too curious to let this opportunity go. 2 years is a long time, much has changed. “How’d things with Jamie, Wilvy, and Gunther go?”
“They’re dead.” You try not to come off as taking the piss.
“Oh… those poor kids, my condolences, Mr. Ando.” Mr. Won-Jae didn’t want to hear that. “How?”
“They exploded. I think it was a terrorist attack.” You reiterate the ‘you think’ bit.
“A terrorist movement in Lokyo?” Mr. Won-Jae feels like his entire world is going to the dump. “This is terrible news.”
“Maybe you need an overview of everything first?” You didn’t think it’d go this way. It’s your fault.
“Yes, please. Be concise if possible.” Mr. Won-Jae takes a deep breath.
“Here I go…” You explain the relevant events that have happened lately. “…So that’s it.”
“These entities have brought so much tragedy, and people have acted so irrationally. I’m lost for words.” Mr. Won-Jae puts his chin on his chest and shakes his head. “But I cannot help but to keep thinking about your classmates. Jamie was a little bit of a problem child, but nothing malicious.” Mr. Won-Jae looks so sad. He’s wrong though, Jamie was a dick and Henry would agree, but it’s not time to speak ill of the dead.
