[red]“Nice try. I know you don't care about the Maggia's well-being that much. You snagged something while you were down there, didn't you? What was it?”[/red]
[blue]“Huntsy, baby…a girl's gotta have [i:lit]some[/i:lit] secrets.”[/blue] Cat said, flashing a mysterious grin as she did.
You frowned at her.
Cat let out a sigh and leaned back in her seat.
[blue]“Look, me and Lori did this one on our own, with no other support from the Desperados, so we have full rights to the loot. Anything I stole of monetary value is being split between us, and anything that I think could be a useful tool is being looked at by a guy that I know. The rest was deposited into the stashes and safehouses of the smaller gangs that are preparing to make a grab for power.”[/blue]
[red]“You know we would've helped you if you just asked, right?”[/red] you said.
Cat stared deep into your eyes for a moment, and her smile became more genuine as it slowly spread across her face.
[blue]“Yeah, I know. But the less of us that are involved with this, the better. I might be willing to part with a relic or two, but you'll have to be careful when and where you use it.” she advised. “And lucky for you, Prowler won't have much use for something like that anymore, so you've got first pick.”[/blue]
She moved her hand towards your face and lightly booped you on the nose with a single silvery claw. You blinked in surprise, but decided not to reward her with an exaggerated reaction.
Like you, Cat found amusement in bothering her teammates. It was an unspoken hobby that the two of you shared. And it annoyed the Prowler to no end.
But with Hobie retiring from the team, it truly felt like the end of an era. You silently hoped that Ember could play the straight man in your group.
[red]“I forgot to ask, but…who's this ‘special prisoner’ that you had to risk your neck for during a citywide attack?”[/red] you asked.
Cat's smile slipped, her easy-going demeanor replaced by a surprisingly serious expression.
[blue]“...It was my dad. I broke him out as soon as I saw my chance. We agreed to meet up again after he takes care of a few things.”[/blue] Cat explained, tucking her legs into her chest and cradling her cup with both hands.
What will you say?
>”What was he in prison for? Is he a cat-burglar too?”
>”I thought you would’ve freed that prospective teammate that you brought to our attention a few months back.”
>”Whatever he's planning, he should get it done before this gang war kicks off. I'd hate for him to be caught in the crossfire.”
>”How long's it been since you've seen him?”
"I get it. Family always comes first."
