<span class="mu-r">“All the more reason for you to have friends in mystical places. They can help you set up some defensive wards or something.”</span> you suggested.
<span class="mu-s">“Perhaps you are right. I’m not foolish enough to put myself, or any of my people in Doom’s crosshairs…but, it wouldn’t hurt to have countermeasures in place, just in case something happens.”</span>
<span class="mu-r">“That’s the spirit!”</span> you cheered. <span class="mu-r">“So, should we draw up a contract now, or…”</span>
Sable held up a hand to stop you before you could get ahead of yourself.
<span class="mu-s">“Hold on. No one will be signing anything until I am able to meet this ‘team’ of yours. I need to know whether they are trustworthy enough to employ as freelance agents.”</span> she declared. <span class="mu-s">“That includes you. As far as I can tell, you are sufficiently sound of mind, but we have yet to see whether you can follow protocol or work well with my team.”</span>
<span class="mu-r">“So you want an audition, is that it?”</span> you asked. <span class="mu-r">“I guess that’s fair. Although I’m afraid it’ll have to happen after I’ve taken care of some business on my end. Me and my team will be out of town for a little while.”</span>
Sable nodded her agreement. <span class="mu-s">“Very well. Whenever you are ready to begin, you know how to contact me.”</span>
Well, that meeting went far better than you expected it to. Thankfully, the Wild Pack’s boss was a reasonable woman who saw the value in leveraging her contacts and potential resources as best she could. Now that was someone you could get behind.
