The hunter traces the footprints converging upon the camp, traveling skyward until pinions of fire-orange cloth peak above snow-capped pines. He watches and listens behind a tight rank of concealing evergreens.
A line of turrets loom over unmoving waters. Golden braziers flare sun-bright during the short nights. Long-torches are mounted in rows, their embers lit and sequentially scattered to anticipate the arrival of the coming dawn.
A quartet of peaked confessors enter the pass on the second night, dragging a blackened urn-cart up through the shaded mountain steps. Triumphant chanting echoes down the pass and through the woods - chasing the shivering hunter long after he returns to home and hearth.

The earth flourishes but does not yield: the harvest is poorer than expected.
The family pulls rich vines of fruit and legume-clusters from the moist earth, but their fellow followers find less fortune. The knight and daughter neglect their fields as they ring steel against steel late into the buzzing night. The hunter's shaking hands manage only a modest tithe of pelts. He sits further from the fire now, retreating whenever the sparks brush too close to his weathered skin.
And yet the share offered to you at the base of your flowering shrine is more than fair. Your offering bowl is not quite full, but neither are theirs.

Earthward. The confessors are gone. The camp grows restless, its prey-route starved of trade. On warm nights, some of the green-cloaked figures begin to wander. [Multiple 1s Rolled]
