>>5359914While you can't quite imagine what kind of ups-and-downs a kid might have growing up with wings-- and you'd often fantasized about things of a similar sort when you were younger--for Boleski's sake and for every other mutant that has or will be born, you will secure a safe world for them all.
The crying hasn't abated, and you doubt it will until Lilian tends to her child's needs.
"I need to go." She says, sparing a glance in the direction of her son. "But thank you." Lilan's voice is earnest. "Thank you for everything."
You leave the humble town of Little Pike with some odd mix of sadness and relief. Even if Boleski never sees her again, at the very least, you gave Lilian the closure she deserved.
"You keep watch the whole time?" You ask, making sure Bernard stuck to his job.
"Yeah, and I heard bits and pieces of that back there." Bernard tells you. "I feel bad for her, but I think she's better off not knowin' the truth-- at least for now."
"No kidding." You mutter, still unsure if you did the right thing. Again, you remind yourself that Boleski's secret isn't yours to tell.
"You down to stop?" The blonde asks, taking you down a random exit. "Forgot to eat before we got on the road-- now I'm kinda starvin.'"
You really can't argue there, as your arrival home pretty much depends on Bernard's energy levels. Plus, you'd be a huge hypocrite if you let him starve, especially with how bad you get when you're hungry.
"Where to?" You inquire, a road sign coming just close enough that you can make out the words of several restaurants.
>Beef-Fil-A: a classic fast food joint that sells exactly what it says on the tin: beef, and lots of it!>Burger Kaiser: Kinda gross, even for Matt's and Bernard's standards, but they got those cool crowns!>The Clumsies: A bar sort-of restaurant that's more bar than restaurant-- likely has an actual menu and cooked food!>Screw it! Just go to the rest stop and grab as many things as your arms can carry. A bit overpriced, but you can pick and choose some...>Write-in>(3/3)
