Their brain is only partially functioning; they cannot reason, and are extremely aggressive. They communicate by hissing and clicking. When translated by the Silverfish, their speech expresses permanent terror and agony, as well as the worship of the the Unknowable Mother. The hybrids are short-lived and sterile, having a lifespan of only one week.

He's constantly writing down his observations, and comparing them to his knowledge of necromancy. After running several tests, he finds himself able to isolate the magical particles which power the amulets, and to extract them. Research into the field of Illusion without any book to help him proves tremendously difficult, but by consulting the spirit of the dead, he's able to produce an invisibility spell that copies the energy frequency of the particles, and works by draining all mana and lifeforce from the surrounding environment.
The ash golems work digilently to harvest all the ashes of all the creatures that have perished in the fire. The production and refinement of a Soulstone Core, as described, is successful. The Soulstone Core can be used as vessel for a Legacy; further, it can be used to load and unload magic.

The pipes are of all size, of copper and of steel. They are inhabited by nests of feral goblins, armed with makeshift weapons, who ambush the zombies from the shadows. The zombies find a ventilation shaft that is clear of any goblin, and leads to a library of 250 meters in diameters. All the books here only have blank pages.
