>>5749243As if to back up his threat, four of his ten guards have moved forward, their spears drawn and pointed towards your group.
“Are you friend or foe?” Montgomery says. “Choose carefully. The fate of your people depends on your answer.”
“I’m afraid I haven’t felt as though I’ve been treated much like a friend since arriving here.” Leif says, backing away from Bennett and his guards to face the new threat that has just entered the tent. “Or do you point spears at everyone you hope to win over to your side?”
“Choose now.” Montgomery says. The rest of his soldiers surround your group, and you find yourself stuck between a rock and a hard place.
“Perhaps I should ask my cousin for his opinion first. Cormac?”
A flash of steel from the corner of your eye is the only warning you get as the First Blade of Sreng moves forward in an instant. With a single swing of his sword, two of Montgomery’s guardsmen are decapitated in a spray of blood. A third, having some considerable skill, manages to block two of Cormac’s attacks, only for the next to find purchases in his heart. Mercurius slides through the man’s armor as though it were made of paper, and he too goes down. The other soldiers almost instinctively back off from the Swordmaster, spears raised in self-defense.
“Guards!” Montgomery cries. “Get in here now!”
The battle had finally started.
