“Knights of Bretonnia, visitors from the Lowlands!” The King bellowed as he looked upon them from his throne. There was no herald for the King, no one at his side to give him advice. A Dwarf, Lucian knew, talked directly with people and gave them all his mind could offer, “I cannot express the happiness my Karak, and all the Dawi within, have for your assistance in fighting the Necromancer and his Horde!”
The two Bretonnians stayed silent, for it was courtesy. One did not talk to the King until called upon, and generalist statements like that did not mean one should talk. To do so out of turn, and thus interrupt the Lord, was a stain on the Lord’s honor and would be punished.
“You Lowlanders lose your tongue?” The King asked in a voice of both annoyance and confusion.
“We are grateful, your Liege!” Gillot said quickly. The action automatic and telling that he was someone who was in the courts for many years, “When I saw the siege I had to help, for my Bretonnian Blood would never have allowed otherwise.”
“There you go!” Laughed the King as he leaned in, “I’ve heard that you fellows are Knight Errants, right? If the tomes are as valued as how much they weigh, you Knight Errants needed to do something to prove yourselves becoming… Knights of the Realm. With the siege broken we will be trading once more with the Lowlanders, and I have given instruction to both our Caravans and Engravers to tell everyone of what happened! To kill both the Necromancer and a mighty beast worthy of Grumni, I want all to know it!”
“We are grateful your Lordship!” Gillot once again said. He was quick on the dial, Lucian had to admit, for what else was there.
“With that said, our interrogation of the Necromancer has brought some troubling news. To the North, in the hold we call Karak Kol, the Necromancer’s allies have made into his Fortress. With a team of Scouts, I ask that you head there and see what they have done to its mighty walls.”
Lucian heard a whisper from Adok after the King’s words, “Its gonna be on the way. We were talking about it before this pomp happened. Just need to make sure the Scouts get there and away safely.”
This time Gillot did not answer quickly. Taking a glance did not help Lucian, the Knight still keeping his head bowed as was tradition. Perhaps, Lucian guessed, he was waiting for him to make the call.
>Take on the task.
>Probably shouldn’t.
