The Rune urged him to bring the fight to the front. To submerge himself into the lethal brawl of tooth, claw, and steel that they would exact upon one another. A brutal carnage would then erupt as Lucian righted all the wrongs these foul creatures have brought upon the world order. All the death, murder, and mayhem that their kind had orchestrated from the darkness.
It would be a glorious, blessed genocide!
Yet he held himself back, pushed down the urge for carnage and mayhem that the rune wanted him to attempt. With a mighty stroke he cleared and entire circle of Skaven around him that were trying to attack at him from all different sides. Their bodies easily severed by the scythe with such ease that they were but wheat to the Priest of Morr.
He then stepped towards the light, the rune only giving a moment’s protest before the burning fires of Grimnir ebbed away from the Knight’s heart. It knew that the bloody vengeance was still coming, yet it also understood that it should not overwhelm the user. After all, unlike the brutal relics of the Chaos Gods, the Gods of Order looked upon their people favorably.
As he stepped towards the light he had to work through the ruinous mud that had spawned from the several dozen corpses around him. Even though there were enough corpses that not a shred of ground should have been seen, their blood had seeped so deeply into the dirt laden sewer that their bodies had begun sinking into the ground as if it was water.
The sanity of any who looked upon such a sight would be tested. Even if these were foul monsters that crawled in the darkness beyond they were still clearly thinking creatures who were smart enough to lay a trap for them. That their bodies could so quickly return to the earth was an indictment to the fighters that the same could be them.
Lucian felt a wave of Skaven throw themselves at his body, each of them trying to bring the Black Knight down. Rage filled Lucian and the Rune burned with the fury of the spiteful dead. In the next moment the Skaven who were being carried on the back of Lucian became a mass of broken bones and limbs as they were all sent flying across the ground. The broken daggers that were all being jammed into his joints were sent flying across the ground as none of them found purchase in the mighty armor.
