Hawthorne nods and taps you on the chest.
"Let's get a move on then before they head out for field work."
Walking through GCPD you head to the east wing, a place usually reserved for admin and higher ranking or specialized officers. This is where Narcotics, Gangland, Meta-Response, and The Detectives have their offices. Hawthorne leads you around asking for "Gray" eventually you're pointed to a corner desk.
The man sitting there has on a pair of reading glasses, he moves his finger down a list while his mouth silently reads the words. You feel acid burn at the bottom of your throat. Disgust. Hawthorne takes a breath and says in a booming voice.
"Is that Tommy Bennett? THE Tommy Bennett?"
You see the detective sigh with a smile as he takes off his glasses.
"I knew you were coming from a mile away Mitch, all this time on the street hasn't magically made you 50 pounds lighter." He smiles standing up and he exchanges an embrace with Hawthorne.
"Gray, you old bastard. You're lead on the SIM Card investigation huh?"
"That I am." He responds proudly offering a hand to you.
"Tommy Bennett, but you can call me Gray." He says
"Gray?"
"They used to call me Blondie." He says with a smirk. "Then I got old." He turns his attention to Hawthorne. "Not as old as this fossil though, what the hell are you doing on the streets again?"
"Doing what should have been done a while ago, Gray. I'm going after Bertinelli."
Gray sighs, the smile sliding off his face.
"You mean Mandragora."
"If that's who he's working for."
"You know that's exactly who he's working for Mitch, come on." Gray shakes his head and frowns. Hawthorne approaches him and leans in close, whispering into his ear. You can't pick it up but the expression on Gray softens. He pulls away and turns to you.
"Rookie." Gray says wiping his forehead.
"Yes, Sir?" You reply.
"You found this right? Phone cache, bunch of SIMs. Tell me what you make of it."
>"I think it's a dead drop sir, pick up a phone, pick up a clean sim." >"I think this is dumping, burned phones and sims just being kept hidden.">"Blackmail. I think these SIMs have dirt that will hurt a lot of criminals. Someone is keeping it just in case." >"Could be loot? Stolen phone, stolen SIM cards, an info broker maybe?">Write-In
