>>5803200“Sorry for that Raven.” you tell her, the Guardian giving you a small nod of appreciation as you help her back up to her feet. “But I appreciate your help.”
“Thank you Karn.” she replies, sounding exhausted. Then, once she's upright she takes a step, making sure she has her balance. “I'm fine, I'm fine. But I don't think I can help her.”
“What? What do you mean?” Sallot asks, sounding heartbroken. “Why not?”
“Her body may heal, but she's done. Her mind has been destroyed.”
“D-Destroyed?” the young man asks, looking devastated. “What do you mean?”
“Whoever, or whatever attacked her, it made sure that no one could follow it.” she replies. “As if her mind had been put into a blender. If she recovers physically, she more than likely won't have her memories. If she even remembers how to walk, or talk, or even eat on her own.”
“No....” Sallot says, dropping down to his knees. “No way.”
“Dammit.” you mutter, wishing you could do more. Then, remembering what else he'd told you, decide to reach out. To the one person involved who you haven't reached out to.
“Raditz. Can you hear me?” you think out, reaching out telepathically to your daughter's former friend. “I heard what happened, is she okay?”
“Redis is healing, she should make a full recovery.” he replies, his thoughts guarded. Yet you still feel his smoldering anger, his rage at what happened burning beneath the surface. And so, you decide to try and give him what little comfort you can, as well as try and get information from him.
“I have the woman here, but Raven confirmed that someone, or something was controlling her.” you tell him. “She was another's puppet, and not at fault herself. Do you have any idea who could be after you, or the girl with you? Who has powers like this, and would come after you through someone else?”
“General Karn. With all due respect, this is none of your business, sir.” he replies, a hard edge to his mind which catches you by surprise. “Leave the one responsible for this to me, I'll handle it. Just, make sure you guard the girl, she might be killed to cover my attacker's identity from you.”
“Wait, you sound like you know who did this.” you accuse, Raditz not answering. Clearly pondering over how much to tell you for several seconds before replying.
“Leave this to me. This is my fight.” he finally answers, then without waiting for your answer ends the mental link. He knows something, you're sure of it. But, before you can ponder on this anymore, you sense two ki appearing right behind you.
