>>5200510You head over to the Fishing Grounds. The last time you were here, you came to clear your head, only to fall right into Monica’s schemes. Recalling this memory seems only to darken your mood, and it looks like the fish are feeling it. They stay away from your rod, and you find yourself sitting there, silently hoping something will bite to distract you.
“Catch anything good, Blair?”
You look up to find Seteth’s sister, Flayn, standing behind you with a smile on her face. A Black Eagle, Flayn joined the house shortly after being rescued from the Death Knight by them. You haven’t had much of an opportunity to exchange words with her, but rumors around campus make mention of her unusual knowledge of all things related to fish.
>“Not quite. I believe I may be scaring them off.”“Hmm…maybe. Fish are smarter than we give them credit for. Did you know that this lake is home to over a dozen different types of fish, each with their own complex social relationships and personalities?!” She asks excitedly.
>“Uhh…I did not…”“If you’d like, I can keep you company and tell you more about them. Fishing is best enjoyed when with friends, and you seem somewhat lonely.”
>“I do? Well, make yourself at home.” You scoot over to allow Flayn to take a seat next to you on the pier.”“Here, I’ll let you try some of my special bait!” If you planned on offering protest, you’re unable as the girl grabs your fishing pole, reels in the line, and replaces your earthworm with…something. You’re unable to tell what type of bait she’s using, but it’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
>“T-thank you, Flayn.” You recast your line with the girl’s bait. “But I hardly think the bait is the issue. Likely it’s just my-” You’re cut off by a sudden jolt in your arms. Something’s hooked onto your line. And quickly too! “W-what is this?!”“Don’t let it get away!” The girl exclaims, jumping to her feet. You try reeling the creature on the other side in and find yourself struggling.
>“I-it’s too strong!” Whatever it is, it’s putting up the fight of it’s life. You feel strong hands wrap around you from behind to aid you. It’s Flayn! The girl is much stronger than she appears, and you feel yourself making progress. You both slowly pull the beast in, and with a loud roar from the two of you, it comes flying out of the water, knocking you both on your backs. You scramble up and take a glance at the now flopping fish that put up such a fight. The fish is large, and brightly coated with a variety of colorful scales. You’ve never seen anything like it. You suddenly hear a large gasp from Flayn, who throws herself on top of the fish before it could finish flopping back into the water.“B-Blair! Do you know what you’ve done?!”
>“N-no!”
