Evil is strong in these lands, which means that you could feed more of the residue in the material world. But it also meant that you could take a visible, though not corporeal, form.
The demon was impatiently waiting for a reply from your minions when you manifested yourself. As you came forth from the necklace of Samarda, you began taking form, though you couldn't yet take on any more definitive characteristics.
Instead of that, you came as a mass of forthing shadows, swirling and coalescing into a vaguely humanoid shape. You seemed to drain the light as you reared your head about, though you alleviated the situation by igniting your eyes, which fired up with yellow-red flames.
The demon, startled by your sudden appearance, quickly regained at least some composure as he stared you up and down.
''*Sniff* You are no mortal, neither are you one of those pesky creatures from above nor this world; you are as steeped in darkness and evil as I am,'' he growled, his voice deep and guttural. ''What brings you to my domain?''
You held out a shadowy appendage. ''We shall start with the formalities, shall we, though I have long since forgotten my original name. Know that I have many among the mortals of this world, and that I am of this world, born into it, unlike thee, for I would like to know thy name first.
''I am Kranazim; this cave is my home, and the areas surrounding it are my hunting grounds. And they have been for the last 276 years of this world, for the incompetents at the portal can't seem to get it open.'' He spat on the floor.
''Pray tell, where is this portal? And besides, what brings thy kind to this world? In my time, that sort would only come when summoned.'' You asked.
''The deeper you go into this miserable valley, the more obvious it becomes, but besides that, it is presumed irrepably damaged by most of us after what that damnable crusader did to it, and that was before the infighting began.'' He paused, a haunted look in his eyes.
''We came here in the belief that the mortal realms would be easy pickings in terms of souls and meat, but now we're locked up in here; most of our raids or breakouts are blunted by the garrisons the orders have built surrounding the entrance.''
This was all well and good, but it didn't exactly give you anything you wanted, save for information. Kranazim didn't appear to be a high-ranking demon, but he did at least give you a basic primer on what's what. The only question now is how to proceed.
>Make a deal; promise him something he wants in exchange for assistance.
>Demand his fealty, as you are the greater evil here; this should be obvious.
>Press for more information, then you shall move on.
>Enough of this; have Mortharn start 'renovating' his skull.
