>>5586966You are Tanya Degurechaff, Champion of Dreadzone, General of Vox's military forces, and the one who managed to wrestle a so-called god's power away from it. However, even with all that power at your disposal, you're still on the back foot. You may have taken the very might of one of this universe's divine beings, but even this insane level of doesn't seem to be enough. You're not even five minutes into the first challenge, and already feel pushed to your limits. And as you reorient yourself again, kicking off the ground and flying straight into the air, you once more realize the gap between yourself and Chaya. The Saiyan warrior, once again coming for you.
“She wouldn't be having this much trouble.” you mutter as your rifle runs empty, but you don't have time to reload. Instead you sling it over your shoulder, the magnetized pack pulling and securing the rifle to your back as you draw your dual burst fire pistols. Each pull of a trigger fires three energy shots towards the approaching soldiers, some dressed as your elites and others more resembling those damn Communists from the Russy Federation.
“General, on your right!” Major Serebryakov shouts in your ear, you turning just in time to see several tanks have all lined up and fire all at once. You drop down to the ground, flying under the dozens of shells fired at your head while returning fire with your own armor piercing explosive rounds. But no sooner have you destroyed those tanks than artillery rounds again drop on your location, forcing you to evade them from overhead while also dodging as many shots from the regular soldiers as well. And despite your best efforts to stay one step ahead, you aren't making enough progress. You wish you'd brought a more area-of-effect weapon along, but you'd underestimated the challenge you'd created. “They're almost to the downed ship!”
“Dammit!” you snarl, whirling around with both guns pointed, firing twin bursts from the pistols to cut down three robot soldiers too close to the downed craft, only for both pistols to also click on empty. And that's when you feel it, you're going to fail the trial.
“You're asking quite a bit of me here General.” Gleeman Vox had told you the day you'd proposed your champion trail to him. “That's a massive investment for a single event.”
“Were it any normal event, I'd advocate against such an expenditure. But you already know that.” you reply easily, having already rehearsed your arguments for several hours after fully designing it that day seven months ago. “However, this one's different.”
“Because you're afraid you're going to lose?” he asks, the verbal barb stinging a bit. Mainly because it's true.
“That's not all. This is going to be big.” you had told him while setting your folder on his desk. “This will be the biggest event Dreadzone's had since the Siege of New Salda.”
