And even if she was an agent of the Ascendancy…well, he reasoned that they’d burn that bridge if they ever crossed it. From what little he knew of the cold-hearted, isolationist pricks, they at least thought slavery was a barbaric and abhorrent practice.
“There’s also the Blazing Chain,” Crane added, casting a wayward glance towards Master Aure, “But I’ve been told that our partners in the Jedi Triumvirate are investigating this.”
The Zabrak’s features twitched in annoyance. “The Triumvirate has nothing to present to the council at this moment in time. But we are looking into it.”
It must have come as a shock to the Jedi that they weren’t the only ones in the Unknown Regions with more than middling ability at using the Force. And that for all their talent, the Blazing Chain used it for piracy.
Briefly, Keimann’s thoughts strayed towards Padawan Gaelle…or would have been Knight at this point? Regardless, the Ferroan wondered if Gaelle’s departure from Mylar Space was his latest assignment for the Triumvirate. It had truly been a shame that neither of them had the time or opportunity to meet when Gaelle had first returned with the Mercantors and the Kakari refugees.
Mercantor spread his hands, and the Archon of War returned his attention to the proceedings. “Give me destroyers and frigates, and I can reasonably defend this planet and annex neighboring systems within a handful of parsecs. But if you want to chase the Tof to wherever they’ve made home, then I will need cruisers and carriers, battleships and dreadnoughts.”
“Weapons to arm our soldiers that make any sort of planetfall,” grunted Sho.
“As well as the supply lines and industry to support them from afar,” added Sanada.
Reasonable enough demands. Any nation worth their salt won through logistics, even more so than any grand vision of liberation, or tactics or strategy by the most cunning tactician.
To Kituh, Keimann ordered: “Inform the Teladi that we’re still deliberating about their line of credit. But we’ll accept their offer – a hundred thousand tons of ice for their mothballed fleet and munition factories.”
The Bothan nodded. “And for the fleet’s flagship, what should we have them build?”
>>The first fleet of the MSDF should be based around…
>A Battleship. A strong focus around a battleship means that the fleet will outlast, outgun and overpower any and all enemies. (Maximum Guns, Minimum Fighters)
>A Battlecarrier. A hybrid between that doesn’t exceed at either of its progenitors’ original roles, but is well-rounded and adaptable for many situations. (Medium Guns/Fighters)
>A Carrier. With a strong focus on a carrier and its starfighter complement, few enemies will be beyond the fleet’s power projection. (Minimum Guns, Maximum Fighters)
>The Globus. Have the Teladi rebuild the main ring component of the Lucrehulk and restore Octavia Mercantor’s flagship to its former glory.
