The squad regrouped, firing in unison at the beast. The room was filled with the sounds of lasgun fire, roars of pain, and the desperate shouts of soldiers. The creature's chitinous armor was now cracked and scorched, but it continued to fight with a ferocity that seemed almost supernatural.
K-3331 kept firing, his lasgun burning his hand. But he dare not let up for even a second - the lasers the only thing keeping this monster from reaching him and tearing his insides out.
The xenos faces K-3331 and, in that moment, he can see his death. K-3331 barely registers the Krieg with only arm get up, pull a frag from his belt and start running towards the beast.
In death: Honour!" He cries, leaping at the beast, hoping to end the nightmare finally.
The xenos grabs him with one arm during the leap, lifting him high above his head. The beast looks at the Krieger, examining him.
Puny thing: why jump on to him? It thinks. Its brain is dimly aware that no more lasbolts are hurting him anymore. It looks around and sees the Kriegers taking cover or just lying on the ground. The Krieg in its hand is kicking at him.
The Krieg cried out in pain as the talons dug deep into his flesh, blood streaming down his arm. He could feel the life draining from him, the talons cutting through muscle and sinew, but his grip on the grenade remained firm.
The explosion was a blinding flash of light, followed by a deafening boom that shook the very foundations of the bunker. The shockwave radiated outwards, flinging debris and shrapnel in all directions. The force of the blast lifted the xenos off its feet, its massive form crashing to the ground in a tangle of limbs and smoking chitin.
