It was impossible to get over how real this all felt. You were beginning to worry about the potential real-world consequences of this. What was going on back in reality, where you were asleep in Yara’s tent? And what would happen if the two of these nightmares actually did manage to bring you down here. Like it or not, you slowly but surely were getting dragged down by the two of them.
“Me too!” Monica says, coughing and dusting herself off as she got back up. She was covered in horrid burns and her clothes were completely singed, but she didn’t seem to care in the slightest. “I never would have thought a little dork like you would get this strong. But I guess it only stands to reason. You put off being a normal girl with a normal life, all so that you could go around playing the avenging hero and feeling good about yourself.”
>“Whose fault do you suppose that is?” “Oh please, take some responsibility!” Kronya says indignantly. “You don’t even realize you’ve been consumed by vengeance this whole time.”
“You threw away your rank, country and prestige, all in the name of it.” Monica chimes in.
“You’ve been living on the idea of killing Agarthans for so long. Tell me you don’t really believe you can just return to living a normal life once everything’s over, do you?” Kronya asks, stifling a laugh.
“After all the things you’ve seen and done, you think you’ll just hang up your spear, pop out a few kids, and spend some cozy nights by the fire?” Monica asks, drawing near.
>“Didn’t sound like too bad a plan to me…”“When all the mothers in the village get together to swap stories, what do you think you’ll share with them?” Kronya asks you. “How you ran men through with your spear? Sent them to their deaths through fire and ice? Or perhaps you’ll regale the women with tales of how you abandoned your friends to their fates at Gronder?”
The two of them were on you again, readying themselves to attack. Twice now they’d resurrected themselves, despite hitting them with everything you had. Was there no limit to how many times they’d come back to harass you? As you try to figure out your next move, you spot a figure moving at the entrance of the chapel. Martha has returned.
“Stop! Leave her alone!” Martha cries.
“Oh?” You hear Monica utter, a tinge of surprise in her voice. “There you are! I was worried you’d gotten away from me!”
