Those are probably some of the best stats you've seen outside of Robbert Huxley but you can't get a read on him past it.

Frank, for a moment, softens upon hearing that. "I get it. Not everyone can be the best...and your best years have gone past you." A brief flash of fear? worry? rushes through Frank. As if he's worried that could happen to him. "Enjoy your time while you have it, old fuck." Was that meant to be supportive?

The Handler breaks out into a tiny laughing fit at the young man's suggestion. "Sure I will, sure I will."

"Shut up." The Handler slugs you in the shoulder with a smirk on his face. Lightly but he does have the muscles to make it mildly hurt. "You don't get to call me that."
"Or what, Otto? Fuck you, I can call you what I want." You gently slug him back. The three of you can't help but to laugh at the silliness going on.

You hear something crackling in your pocket. Fishing it out with telekinesis, it's your old earpiece. You put it on to see what Alexis has to say.

"We're doing well over here. These three are actually pretty cordial? Maruyama recognized that these are S-Corp goons, must've overheard some Singularity patent nonsense is going on."

Maruyama's voice then crackles over the speaker. "They apparently got into contact with a nearby gang who's supposedly working on behalf of another client to bring their own case in exchange for information on another? I think we're getting into some pretty complex inside trading politics here."

Hrm. That's not good at all. Two days was enough to play fucking hot potato with the Handler's case by the sounds of it. Looks like you'll need to break a few heads to find out who has it.

Adam is the next one to come up to your group. He's glancing around the whole club with obvious worry on his face. He grabs onto your jacket and pulls you a bit too close for comfort. "Listen, listen to me. Okay. We can't talk here. Move, move."

The three of you are dragged into a more secluded part of the longue where the only one remotely in earshot is a man so drugged out of his mind, he reeks of his own piss and shit. Feh. You wish you could smash his head in with your baseball bat- Fuck, you're not Ashley.

Once the four of you are in this secluded part of the longue, Adam drops a bombshell on you.

"This place is going to be a bloodbath in 30 minutes. Tops."

"It was...nice getting some practice in, even if it wasn't in the best circumstances. I suppose it's nice to have a backup plan in case everything falls through, you know?"

[OVERCORRECTION] A nervous energy bounces throughout every word Adam says. "I mean, considering the restaurant and going on missions like this and Benedict and-"
[OVERCORRECTION] "Hard not to worry these days. Especially after hearing about singularities and apparently Benedict is a concept made manifest and seeing you fighting an anomaly and-" His breathing is getting hectic, shallow. "-holy shit am I going to die when I go back to the City-"

"I just want to make sure I can help people, you know? Is it wrong to feel that way?" Adam stares at you with pleading eyes.

However, you're not the one to answer first.

"IT Is Not Wrong." Benedict's throat makes an odd mechanical clicking sound. "HOWEVER. I. She TolD mE. SOMETHING THAt Fits here. All you have to Do is keeP trying. W-Worrying yOURSElf Sick about how to. Feel. wiLl only hurt you."

You nod at what Benedict said, though you can't hide your shock at him speaking up like this. "Yeah. Take one step at a time, Adam. You did good. I feel a lot better. That's all that matters."

Adam lets out a pained, shuddering breath before quickly nodding. "Okay. I'm glad. Just feels like if I don't have something I can do, I'll go insane." He straightens his posture and firmly clears his throat. "Thanks, though. That cleared my mind a bit."

Alexis's expression is stuck in a genuine smile. Huh? "You know, this is probably the best way to handle it, isn't it?" She rests her hands on her thighs. "Though, maybe if we had Lex this would be a quick and easy thing."

"What are you talking about?" Adam interrupts his prayer to some N-Company (you think?) god when the three of you start discussing your plan. Benjamin spurts out his answer, "Oh! We're going to drug that chef, aren't we?"

"WHAT?!"

"Not you." You flippantly wave your hand at him. Why is he upset again? This is clearly the right decision to- Oh. Your burning brain connects the wires a second after you spoke. "...Uh. Your friend might be deranged. I would know. From experience."

"Loo-look, t-there has to be a reasonable explanation." Adam knocks over his chair in his mad rush to stand up. The clattering of it echoes through the mostly empty dining hall. "W-we can't do that to him. He'll, uh, he'll be fine. I'll just talk to him. That'll work it out."

"Denial, huh?" Alexis curtly spits out. "Look. The writing's on the wall. You can't be serious." Alexis lets out a small grunt before changing her tone of voice. "I get it. I do. You don't want a friend to get hurt and we're three random strangers."

"It's a mild muscle relaxant." Benjamin snaps out of his minor daze. "Laced with some other sedatives. It'll knock him out cold but he'll be fine. It's best that we get him to calm down first before you talk to him."

"We're ultimately here to help." You try to put on a smile. You have your own reasons for doing this, of course.

"This is absurd. H-he's probably cooking some drugged shit in there and apparently he's been doing it for a-" He starts rambling. You turn it out while you watch him pace back and forth around the knocked over chair. You use your telekinesis to put it back up right.

Alexis goes over to his side of the table. She grips down hard on Adam's arms. "Listen. We need your help in order to help him out. Alright? You know how to handle him."

"We'll handle all of the jabby jabby needle stuff!" Your smile actually feels natural this time. Benjamin nods along. "Yep! You just keep him calm and collected while we give him the shot."

Alexis doesn't acknowledge what you two are saying. "Help us and we'll help you. Okay?"
